Training Wizard 2001 introduces the ability to log all changes to the Training Wizard database to an audit trail table.

When Training Wizard is used with either an Oracle or MSSQL database engine, an Audit Trail can be activated. The Audit Trail is not available for use with Sybase databases. The Audit Trail is activated on a table-by-table basis. The screens for managing whether the Audit Trail is activated or not, and for which tables, can be found under the Preferences button on the Training Wizard Home Page.
When the Training Wizard Audit Trail has been activated, it will record when records are added to a table, when records are removed from a table and when records on a table are modified. All Audit Trail activity includes the time at which the activity occurred, who performed the action and which application was used to perform the action (Training Wizard, EvalTracker or Import Utility). When a record is updated, the Audit Trail will include before and after values for each modified field.
Note that changes made to the data in the Training Wizard database by an application other than Training Wizard, EvalTracker and the Import Utility will still be logged in the Audit Trail, but the application and the user will both be recorded as "Unknown". The time the data was changed, how the data was changed and even the name of the workstation used to make the change will still be recorded. Examples of "other" applications would be ODBC Query, a 3rd party database query tool or even Self Service Training (which uses Cold Fusion to modify data within the database). Note that when a server based application (like Cold Fusion) is used to modify the data in the Training Wizard database, the name of the workstation recorded in the Audit Trail will be the name of the server that the server based application is running on.
The data logged to the Audit Trail can be viewed from within Training Wizard, or a report can be written that queries the VW_AUDIT_TRAIL view. If the data logged to the Audit Trail becomes too large, it can be permanently deleted or you can archive that data using tools provided by your database engine or third party software vendor.
